Knocking on the sky

There’s a well-known Zen koan: “Knock on the sky and listen to the sound.”

About three years ago, someone asked Yahoo Answers: “Does it have an exact meaning?”

The site says the best answer – chosen by 50 percent of voters – is: “Most Zen sayings mean exactly what they say. This is one of them.”

Which I really like.

Incidentally, when Yahoo said that 50% of voters chose that as the best answer, it meant four voters out of a total of eight.
