Such nonsense

A zen student asked: “Is it not true that to find the truth you need to meditate?”

The master said: “Who told you such nonsense?”

The student said: “You did.”

The master said: “Forget what I said.”

The student was puzzled: “How then, am I supposed to find truth?”

The master said: “Forget about that too.”

The zen student was becoming worried the master had lost his mind: “But meditation, that I should do, right?”

The master said: “There’s no need. If you do not search for truth, no meditation is needed.”

The student cried: “But I do not wish to live in lies and illusion!”

The master said: “Forget that wish as well.”
